When to visit nature reserves

Nature reserves are a great place to visit any time of year, you will really notice the difference in the seasons if you visit one regularly. one month green and lush, then the next, snow covered and crisp. Heres an idea of the best time to visit to catch a glimpse of the most wildlife in berkshires reserves.

Woodlands - All year round
Heathlands - Spring to Autumn
grasslands - Late Spring, early Summer
wetlands- All year round

Who does conservation work?

As well sites being managed full time by ecologists and conservation officers, volunteers do an excellent variety of work on reserves, either as midweek, or weekend community projects. Volunteers do not need any skills to learn how to save valuable habitats, you will not be expected to work to any target, all practical support is appreciated. Volunteers are members of the general public like you who have an interest in wildlife or have some spare time you want to put to good use.

It's not just conservation that benefits when you volunteer. You will meet like-minded people, gain valuable skills and have a lot of fun too! See the list below of local contacts.
